In a nut shell, look for a machine with a welded, fabricated deck, stamped decks will not hold up to the high speed bumping with a "Z". Look for a machine that has individual pumps and wheel motors with hoses between them. They also make them with a hydro transaxle, but they do not hold up under the long term for durabily. I have looked at Encore to sell, was not impressed with the quality of cut, Dixons are cheaply made, Ferris has a lot of moving parts, but if they are the only three close to you, I would say the Ferris would be the better of the 3. If you have other choices, then find the dealer that you feel will give you the best service. There a litterly hundreds of "Z"s on the market and each have their points, good and bad. If you can find a unit with a guardian engine, they are one of the better ones in my opinion, but the manufacturers using that engine is few, but they are on Bobcat, Dixie Chopper, Encore, for sure, may be others. Good luck.
