How in the world do you get 6500rpm from a Kohler without it blowing up?

Mike, As gregg said it is a 2-stroke motor designed for high revs BUT FYI - garden tractor pullers are building the old Kohler cast iron single cylinder 4-strokes to withstand 8000 revs, balanced and blueprinted, aluminum heads, forged cranks and con rods, like the hot rodders do. I saw a Cub Cadet puller that had the cylinder seperate from the crankcase. That one had the head "strapped" down too!!

That would be a 2 cycle engine, used in late 60"s-early 70"s snowmobiles.

I saw 2 cylinder not 2 cycle so I was a bit confused. Yes, old 2 cycles can rev up a bit.
