accidently touched red wire comming out of the motor to the ammeter lead, thought I needed to touch wire to 12 volts to shut it off, just got the lawn mower and I put a brand new coil (132.00) on it and it ran fine touched wire to 12 volts and now I no longer have a spark, I have a techumseh book but it is kind of vag on the coil situation, possibly I ruined something behind the fly wheel? help new to small engines, and wiring is kind of jerry rigged.
help Pete

As Kent said, if you put 12v to the kill wire of any older magneto ignition system, it is ruined, no salvation.

If you touched it to 12 volts you have smoked it.

You can have that coil tested at any shop that repairs lawnmowers or garden tractors. Hal
