I have a B&S five horse, model #142701 than I am having a hard time getting it to start. It has a two piece flo-jet carburator on it. I've had the carb apart half a dozen times and there must be something that I am missing. I've adjusted the float and still have gas dripping out of the bottom of the carb. The engine turns over fine, but just won't pop. Any suggestions?

Flo jet carbs are bad to develop a deformed float valve seat. A vitron tipped float needle will often fix the problem. with the carb held upside down and the float and float valve in place, you should not be able to blow (by mouth) any into the fuel inlet. If any air leaks past the float valve it will leak gas.
Of course as David said the float must float good, pivot freely and be set at the correct height.

being you have gas overrunning from the carbs bowl. 2 things i can see. the bowl for one is not sealing where it mounts. check the seal. this might be allowing the pressure from the rising gas in the bowl to not be enuff to seat the needle valve once the bowl is full....thus causing it to keep flowing. also..check your float inside the bowl. remove it and place it in a cup of gas to see it actually if floating with no leaks. bross float rings you can seal easy with just a small amount of solder. nothing too heavy tho when sealing them or they will not float well.

three main ingredients ive always learned growing up about whats needed to make the motor run .....fuel...compression...and spark. check your sprak..make sure have it. youre compression if will blow your finger off the spark plugs hole will be enuff to at least make the motor run. and fuel..needs to be getting to the spark plug itself...but too much is a bad thing
