Perry,
You might want to reread the data tag again. I believe you have a L-106 Lawn Ranger made in 1966. The 1965 to 1968 Lawn Ranger series had it's own numbering system , basicly the two numbers you want to look at are the last two digits. These will tell you the year model and whether or not the tractor has a recoil or electric start.
i.e.
L-105 1965 recoil start
L-155 1965 electric start
The "0" denotes recoil start and the "5" denotes electric start. The last digit is the year model , here is a list of the Lawn Ranger series from 1962 to 1968.
1962 32R and 32E (in the early series the "R" is for recoil and the "E" is for electric)
1963 33R and 33E
1964 34R and 34E
1965 L-105 and L-155
1966 L-106 and L-156
1967 L-107 and L-167
1968 1-2631 (electric) and 1-1631 (recoil)
The Lawn Ranger series used the old round hood until 1968 where as the number series Wheel Horse models used the round hood unitl 1964.

I have a Toro Gateway CD, it does not show a L108 Wheel Horse tractor.They amde a 33E and R in 1963 and a 34R & E in 1964, then they made a L105-L106, and L107 made in 1965-1966-1967 respectfully, But were not listed as lawn rnagers, Then, 1968 started the 1-1631 and 1-2631, in 1969 they made 1-8741 and 1-8745, in 1970 it was 1-8751-52-55-56 and in 1971 they were 2-0200 and 2-0210, then that was the end of the Lawn Rnager tractor series.

This is based on memeory...from a while back...

L = LAwn Ranger
1 =recoil start
0 =10 hp?
8 =1968

Hope this helps.

Oh, and the Rangers had roundhoods after its larger bretheren went square.
