troy bilt shift pattern

I was given a troy bilt rototiller, I got it running, but can,t find how to put it in reverse. I move the shift lever up, and it goes foreward, and down and it goes foreward Do they have reverse? Any help will be appreciated. Stan

if you are talking about the "Garden Way" tillers, the pony works different than the horse, which one do you have????

They have a fricton disk bolted to the end of crank shaft about 4" around and when you lift up engine the disk hits the drive pully on transmision and tiller should go backwards .
