I built a small air compressed engine. It is piston driven. The block crank shaft cylinder and piston and rod are from a cox 0.049 engine. I ran it with a 12 volt air compresser. It ran for 20 0r 30 seconds with a fly wheel. Please help.

OTG is this a joke or what? You built a compressor from an old model airplane engine? What are you going to do with that little runt anyway? That thing will overheat in a flash if you ever really develop any pressure at the output. The con rod in that thing is like a toothpick and ready to give up if worked hard. All that said you must minimize the head volume in order to increase the pressure so start there. The check valve must be in the head and be made so as to reduce the back pressure when pumping. Remember that the work that the pump must do is the sum of all the series backpressures in the system. Maybe you should add liquid cooling and a radiator. Sounds like something for the Yack Arena during the modelmakers show in April.

I used a compressor to power the cox.

What are you doing with the .049 other than just motoring it with your compressor? What was the pressure at the inlet to the .049? What speed did it run at for 30 minutes and what was it driving. Are you making a compressed air driven model of some sort. Those little engines need lubrication and as I recall they don't have piston rings.

10 to 12 pounds. I plan to power a old gas powered car with it.

What are you using for valves to convert the original 2-stroke-cycle compression ignition engine to an air operated motor?

If you want to run it on air, why not use a little steam engine?
