I'm having problems with the carburators leaking through on 24 series Briggs horizontal cast iron engines after rebuild with new kits. What am I missing? These carbs don't use the neopreme seats that are included. Can the jet be pitted and how would I clean up the contact point on the bowl? Thanks Much!!!

I used a small o-ring on the shaft of the high speed jet and that seemed to take care of the problem. Don't know how long the o-ring will last but I leanered something today. Another good day!! Thanks Again Guys!!

A couple of things can be done to fix, the firt is to install a stainless seat, part number 394682, if that does not solve problem, get a part number 391413, it will include a roll pin and a teflon washer, discard the roll pin, take the teflon washer, slide it ove the shaft of the high speed nozzle, I have had a few instances where the carb body will pit and will wick fuel throught the high speed jet and leak, this washer will seal the surface between the nozzle and the carb body. As Kent said, check your float first to make sure you don't have fuel in the float.

Have you tried a new float?
