It is very easy to mix-up the fuel line hose and the vacuum pulse line. Be sure they are connected correctly.

it sounds like the diafram in the fuel pump is out or has a pinhole in it.usuall on those the line comin from the gas tank hooks on the side of fuel pump.the bottom line hooks into the block.but if you pull the bottom line and turn the motor over if the diafram is ok it will pump gas.also look on the carb .theres a 5/8 nut .unscrew it and look in there .thats the meterin outfit and it may have some dirt or trash in it.try that. don

thanks for the help guys as i am not a small engine guy but i will try all of these ideas, i do have the line hooked from tank to side of carb, and other line from bottom to block. If the diaphram is gone are those expensive and hard to replace. If i have trash in that 5/8 nut thing will that cause it not to pull from tank too.

those diaframs are about 6 or 7 dollars and yes if that venturi has trash in it or the holes are stopped up it wont run right.but install that diafram and look behind that 5/8 nut and see if theres any dirt or trah in it. don
