Can anyone tell me how to access the gas tank on a Sear/Craftsman LT1000 lawn tractor? The tank is located under the seat, but I have no idea how to access it. It developed a leak either in the gas line or the tank.

Thanks
David

I think you pretty much have to take the fender off. There should be 2 bolts that hold the seat bracket on, 2 that hold the springs on, and there are 2 or 4 underneath the footrests. You may have to remove the shifter handle, too. It the tractor is still under warranty, I suggest you call Sears. That sounds like a potential safety hazzard.
