Who made this tractor. I've been told in the past it was manufactured for Ford by another well know maker. Would appreciate any help.

I found the plate on the left side over the front axel. Shows a model # 09JC3206 and serial #G122260. Gary

That puts it between 1977 and 1983. You can get a better idea of the year from the Kohler engine numbers. See link below.

Jacobsen made these for Ford until the mid-80s then Gilson took over.

Did Jacobsen and Gilson have "same-as" models?

No, when Gilson took over they changed the model numbers. Your LGT100 is a Jacobsen. You can get an aproximate date with the serial number and also the numbers off the Kohler engine.

What I meant is ... when Jacobsen was makeing the LGT 100 were they selling an identical model of a different color?

Oh, sorry. Yeah, Jacobsen had pretty much identical models under their own name. They had model numbers such as GT
-10, GT-16, and so on. This is for the newer models, (late 70s to early 80s), Jacobsen also had the Chief and Super Chief models in the 60s and 70s.

There's also a great Yahoo group for these tractors, with people that know a lot more than me about them.

Jacobson also made one for Minnieapolis Moline during this same time frame and seems like one other that I can't recall right now. Here is a SN list that might help you ID yours.

Jack Mc, Thanks for that info, would you happen to have anything on the '62-'64? The other brand was Oliver. Anyone have the production #s on the MM, Oliver and/or Ford? Thanks, John grandfieldfarm1 at aol.com

The Oliver models made by Jacobson in the late 1960's thru early 1970's were painted red and sold in Canada under the Cockshutt brand.

Didn't know about the Cockshut LGT, but makes sense. A young guy in Kansas is collecting the MM serial#s and working on how they coded them for options, year, etc. I suspect he has the other lines included in his reference material, hope to see him at the MM winter show in Columbia, MO next month I'll ask.
