I just purchased this lawn tractor and was thinking of restoring it. It runs great until it warms up (which is after cuts two rows of grass) then it loses power and starts to miss. I changed the coil and condenser and that didn't work...Any other ideas would be appreciated. Also where would I find out the year of this tractor? Serial 022666M

Had the same problem with mine. Apparently the previous owner had it too, cause when it blew the spark plug out of the head it took the helicoil with it. Turned out to be a mouse nest filling the shroud on the back of the engine resulting in no air flow.

Your 140 is a 1970 model.
1970 started with S/N 022401.

Could be a fuel problem i.e. plugged fuel cap vent or dirty carb. Could also be a valve adjustment. As the engine heats up and the metal expands you may not have enough clearance. I'm guessing that if you went to the trouble of changing the condenser and coil that you aslo installed a new plug.

Sounds like a sticking exhaust valve. I'd pull the head and make sure the gasket it isn't blown or getting there in the area of the exhaust valve. These engines (K321) are notorious for burning exhaust valves. Put some mystery oil in the gas and see if it helps free the valve up. Kenny
