It was running just fine and always has. I shut it down after mowing and it won't start. 15hp Kawasaki V twin liquid cooled.

I've cleaned tank & carb, new plugs - spark was fine, air cleaner is fine, fuel filter is fine.

It won't fire on Ether either.
I checked compression for interest. 50 left and 45 right. These number seem too low.

I guess I need some good advice before I start a major overhaul. Is there a compression release which is skewing the compression numbers?

Thanks, Steve.

How much time on the engine? Call the local JD dealer, they should be able to give a proper compression rating for it. Could be a high amount of carbon build up around the valves?? Did it burn or use alot of oil??? If not I would say maybe maybe just a valve job is needed??

I would guess 500+ hrs. I just can't get past that it was running fine. I shut it down, it cooled off.

Now nothing seems to work. I am going to pull the valve covers to see if the lifters are working. Having lost both sides at once is odd.

It's fixed. I got some good advice.

Check the flywheel for broken key.
Pull the valve cover to verify tappet motion.

There was the issue both intake tapets gummed up and stuck. Because they were slow to close the push rods fell out of their rocker.

This occurred not because I have poor maintenance but because I ran (mixed with good) some stale gas to get rid of it.
