find a good dealer that knows his stuff and have him get you a short block, I/C with an oil pump. your old one may not have had one, but it is an easy chngeover. Yes the short block is kinda pricy, but you will have a hard time getting the aluminum block to be bored, and then get new rings to seat. my .02

sounds like a good idea, but i cant afford to put alot of money in to this thing. i have thought about installing a pump on this block. wouldnt be hard to plumb in, would have to use an electric pump though. just an idea, have no idea if ill ever do it.

You said twin, right? That sounds like a pretty cheap re-build to me! I would suggest you make a more complete list and then see what it looks like.

What about gaskets, bearings, equipment rental/purchase (you got a honing tool?)

a honing tool, no. thats why the machine shop is doing everything. i talked to them in person about it. they are a very well known and respected shop in my area. the parts price is for everything but crank and cam . yes it dose seem cheap for all this, but thats the ballpark price.

Sorry, I'm just a cynic from way back! Can't see how they can make a living doing that!

Don't mean to question anybody's integrity or anything - just wanted to raise a little warning flag for you. You didn't get much response to your post and I wondered if that was part of the reason.
