Start the lawn mower and adjust until the engine ildle smoothly at low RPM's then rev it up and adjust the scew more until it runs smoothly.

If you are having trouble starting the lawnmower you might need a new spark plug.

TIGHTEN BOTH SCREWS IN ALL THE WAY. THEN OUT @ 1.25 THEN ADJUST TO ENGINE IDEL OR FAST BEST POWER

Kent: The two adjusting screws should be opened from the closed position @ 2 turns each to get engine started. With engine an full throttle adust bottom inward to lean out and listen to engine run smooth without backfiring..do this also under load until it runs smooth.Adjust idle screw on the side of the carb. by setting throttle to lowest speed setting.Turn screw in clockwise to lean out the idle circuit of carb. until it idles smooth without surging. When running smooth at idle, increase throttle and make sure that engine still runs smooth at high speed.Readjust if needed.Hope this helps,Mark L. I have a B&S 14.5 hp engine and i think a valve is stuck any suggestions on how to get it unstuck? Also the reason it got stuck was that i have gas getting into my oil. Someone told me that maybe my float is not working right. I checked but it seems ok. How can I stop the gas from mixing with my oil?
