What are gatorblades, and where do you get them? I noticed a post advising someone to replace their OEM blades with gatorblades. Never heard of them, and wondering if someone can get me up to speed. Are there any drawbacks to them? Thanks.

They are superior to OEM blades in every way. They mulch almost anything. I sometimes have to cut 2"-3" off my lawn and they leave zero cuttings. When you see the blade you'll understand why, they have huge "teeth". They are made of very thick heavy steel and can be sharpened dozens of time. They are also perfectly balanced. No drawbacks at all. I get mine at the local chain saw shop. They are made under license for Oregon, the people who make most of the saw chain and bars. Any shop that has an Oregon catalog can get them for you. I pay $12 out the door for them. Maybe someone else knows of a cheaper 'Net source.

RIGHT GATORBLADES ARE THE GREATEST THING TO COME DOWN THE PIKE-- BUT THERE IS ONE DRAWBACK LIKE ANY MULSHING BLADE THEY STEAL HORSE POWER-- WHEN MOWING IN HIGH OR WET GRASS OR WEEDS YOU MAY HAVE TO DROP BACK A GEAR TO SAVE YOUR ENGINE-- JUST A THOUGHT
