Dennis: the HT 4213 is a very good tractor and will last as long as maintained. The problem with them is that Honda made them between something like 1987 and 1991 or 93. It is hard to find deck parts. From what I also found out, Honda did not make a bagging system or mulching kit.

A Honda dealer/repair facility told me that owners get rid of the HT4213 because the decks rot and parts are not available. Mine has many hours and the engine and tranny run like a champ, however, my deck is rotting.

If anyone can direct me to a new or used parts store I would appreciate it.

Was looking at a used HT 4213 today for $975 -- has just been serviced -- but was interested in you deck comments --- what part of the deck rots? Are there holes in the metal?

Thanks -- what do you think of this price -- it looks about 10 years old -- runs great -- no smoke ----

I have an ht4213. It was a good tractor while it lasted, but I bought it used (misused) and the engine blew. I still have the blower unit, used only one season, like new, for sale if anyone wants it. I can deliver, for travel expenses.

Whe you say you have a blower unit, what exactly do you mean ? I need the belt that connects the three mower blades.

WOW -- you got a great deal ---

I have decided to pass on this one -- it looks 10 years old -- not like new at all --- and I can't figure out wheb it was made....??

even though it runs well -- and is probably in great shape -- looks bad, runs good

Txs for reply

I have one as well. No deck rust, but sometimes there is a slight drive hesitation, especially when turning while going uphill, which does not bother me. BIG problem is premature wear of desk belt. 10 hours or less and it is shot. OEM belt is expensive, so I am looking for a good alternative. Any suggestions as to the cause ? Should I remove all the rust from the pulley inner surfaces with a wire brush ? It is an exercise in frustration to remove the deck to get at the belt.

Hi,

I've got an HT4213 that has many of the problems with the deck and/or belt mentioned in this thread. Has anyone identified a substitute belt (OEM is $45!)? There are several sites that have a 1/2" by 76" V-belt for $12 or so that I was thinking of giving a try. At that price I wouldn't mind replacing the thing once a year. As for the person who said that the front wheels lay down the grass and he gets stripes...that's a broken blade belt, only the center blade is actually cutting.
