Hello all again. Well, that auction didnt go as planned. But, my grandpa gave me a tractor that my great grandfather orginally bought in 1969. Its a John Deere 70. 7 horse techumshe. I do have a couple of questions though. Besides the local jd dealership, where can I get parts? I.E. engine rebuild kit bearings. And, a repair manual and orginal owners manual? Do you guys have any comments on this model tractor?
Thanks,
Barnz

I picked up a 1970 JD70 this spring. It runs great but needs some carb. adjustment.Paid very little but it was running in about 2 hours.I really bought it for my 12 year old who is handicapped and was driving us nuts always wanting to drive our lawn tractor.Anyway, I got all the manuals from a JD dealer. Not cheap but I think worth the money.Have fun.

engine parts should be available from a Tecumseh parts dealer. Cheaper than from Deere.

Thanks Ben and Jim. Ben where can I find a local dealer? I have tried the phone book but nothing. Jim, where in WV are you located? I am in Steubenville Ohio. Oh, and the tractor back fires like crazy, what could be the problem?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, I'm about 40 minutes south of Wheeling,WV. little town called Sistersville. Been thru Steubenville a few times :).

If you're looking for a local dealer check the link below, select service and support and it has a dealer locator you can use.

Ummm, not sure about the back-firing problem, I'll have to defer to some of the mechanics here on that, I'm not that good at trouble shooting small engines :).

Good Luck,
Jim

Know it well, don't know whether they are hiring or not. Send them a resume, could'nt hurt :).
