Got my "free" cub 125 running yesterday. it was sitting in my aunt/uncle's garage for about 7 years. I'm going to put a new hydro filter in, poins and ignition switch. anything else to check? thanks

Andy, good luck with your 125. Make sure when you start it the Amp gauge moves to the discharge side when cranking and moves to charge when the engine starts. I find the wiring harness gets corroded where it bends up by the front casting and the wires break. Also while your at Cub, pick up 1 or 2 extra nylon wear buttons for the PTO arm in the front. Now, you know you can't stop with just 1 cadet now don't you?

Congratulations on your Cub. You may want to check out these sites. both have very useful and knowledgeable members. You can register your tractor, find out tips on maintenance, etc. Oh, don't just change the filter on your tranny it may be due for an oil change also and be sure to use genuine Hytran available at both your Cub Cadet and CaseIH dealer. The CaseIH dealer will most likely be lower priced for the oil even though it is the same oil. My 125 is a 1968 with for now just the mower deck. I hope to soon have a three point made for it.

I would assume you are going to pull the rear cover and drain out all the old Hytran and clean out the "mud" that has collected on the bottom of the rear end. Then refill it with fresh Hytran from Case/IH . I would change the engine oil and use 30 weight oil to refill it. Also, it would be a good idea to pull the head and scrape the carbon out. Throw on a new head gasket, and tourque the bolts to spec. Also, you may want to check the points and set the gap to .020". Grease all the pivot points and check the p.t.o. clutch adjustment, for a few of the things I can think of.
