Hey it has been said that a few of you have put this engine in a Cub Cadet.I have a 782.I know I,ve asked simalar questions before, but I am confused. Why do most co. I,ve seen don,t have a 18 mag, they onley go up to 16 & it doesn,t look like anything like a Cub transplant. Is there a special or renamed line.? Also when I find one,What would you think the retrofit would intail ,hard part wise?I can reruote and make brackets and clamps,But what about exhaust? engie mounts fly wheel. pto ?Am I better off w/ the replacent series II ? Money wise? By the way some one sujested to that the seies II wis being discontiued and that I,d better snap one up.

You should not have trouble putting in the 18 Magnum. Yes you may have to relocate the oil filter (check Cub"s parts book for 1810/1811) but there is a key switch that works with the magneto ignition and has enough power terminals for the rectifier, accessories and etc. I am gonna try to find a part number and which wires would have to be changed. As far as the crank spec., you can always cut off the end of one if it is to long, Or if it is too big in diameter you can get a matching PTO for it. And just so you know, that twin Magnum only fits in a twin cyl. wide frame. (582,782,1710,1711,1810,1811,682)

Took 2 secs to find one with correct crank:
Link

Or check:
www.tulsaenginewarehouse.com/catalog/kohler/horizontal/m18.html

Jack's has had them in the past, but only 16 there now:
www.jackssmallengines.com/keng.cfm

Be sure you tell them you want the Cub Cadet spec crankshaft. These places can get about any engine you want.

Google is an amazing tool to search! Just plug in Kohler Magnum 18, and ... WOW!

The Commands, Mags or the KT17 fit. KT17 is direct drop-in, Mag needs some very minor mods (locate the oil filter near the air cleaner, you will need to install a relay to make the electronic ignition work with yer points-based wiring). Command a little more involved.

I have the schematic for the relay mod if you want it, as I have told you before.
