I got the Speedex home today. It's not an S-17. It is a S-24. I have some questions to ask. The clutch/brake pedal is stuck it won't budge. The lift is also a little stuck. Can anyone give me any tips for freeing them without damaging anything? It also needs a coil and air cleaner. Are those items hard to find? The tranny seems to work. When we put it in foward the chain moved good as well as the pulley. The reverse works as well. I need all the advice I can get. Thanks guys.

Was wondering if you got info on the Speedex. I just bought parts and parts book. Will help you if I can.

S-24 is a large tractor, should have a 10hp engine. Disconnect the clutch rod from the engine and see if engine is free to slide. Soak the pedal and lift bushings well with something like WD40. If that doesn't loosen them try heating the bushings. No plastic or anything in there, most you can do is burn a little paint. Lube the steering shaft before it freezes up too.

Thanks Lou I really appreciate it. Can you still purchase a manual for the S-24 and is a coil hard to find?

You can try speedex.com for a manual. Speedex manuals don't amount to much, mostly chassis parts breakdown, no engine stuff. No big hidden secrets to a Speedex, you can see how almost everything works. Pretty tough to break. Put a new belt on that thing and it'll pull your house off the foundation. Coil for a B&S shouldn't be a problem. Look in your library for a "large air-cooled engines service manual". Covers older engines. Got mine on ebay for a few bucks.
