I've just bought one today in immaculate condition. What years were they in production? This one has a BSA engine - what sort of horsepower were they and how do I tell my fiance that I've just bought another tractor???

I own a uni-horse tractor I've had it for over 20 years . It is 420 cc single BSA Top of the range model with all attachments & original hand book & manual.
If I ever get hold of a digital camera I'll post a picture

Dont know much about it but would love to see some pics of or if you wanna get rid of it I would be interested. I have had a couple of BSA motorcycles in the past (have a Triumph now) and really like them. I dont know if the tractors are the same as the motorcycles (probably are) but most Americans dont realize that the electrical systems on BSA's are positive ground. Just thought I'd mention that. I spent 4 years in England and never heard of such a thing although I wasnt into tractors at that time. I wonder if you can post pics in here?

My grandad use to work for BSA in the 1950's. He worked in the Power Unit section of their Birminham Factory. As well as supplying power units to refrigeration companys they decided to mount power units on four wheels. The result is the Uni-horse. I have a BSA power unit that I am currently doing up and I am after any litriture for it.

The Uni-Horse Tractor Company was, at least, at the end of its life, based in Droitwich in Worcestershire. The company was owned by the private family company Edward Williams Holdings, but was closed down in the 1970's. I am not sure if the Lee Francis Company designed the original, certainly I was not aware of this fact. The unit I just got going yesterday has a BSA engine and hydraulic actuation of the implement attachment. I have a snowplough, mower and two-wheeled trailer, though I do not know how to attach the snowplough properly.

It would appear there are more of these things about than I thought!

I have a Uni Horse with a 7hp MAG engine. Bought it S/H in 1980, not sure how old it is. I have plough, rotovator, grass cutter, side hoe & 4 wheel trailer for it and use it a few times each year.

Met a guy at the Isle of Axholme Festival of the Plough this year who had entered ploughing competition. His tractor was a bit older than mine with a BSA engine.

Will post picture soon.
