I just got a Bantam Tractor. I have never heard of one before but it looks like an oversize pedal tractor. It seems to be all there and it runs. Any info about these and a guess at their value???

Thanks

i am currently working on a school project. we are restoring a bantam tractor that was used in west view amusement park. we are attempting to restore it to original park condition. it appears that the engine is not the original. we cannot tell what it is for it has rusted over, i believe it to be either a onan or kohler. if you know what the original engines they used, or even better if you know what engines they used in the park, your help is appreciated.
my e-mail is

thank yo for your time and help

I believe that all the bantam tractor came with briggs & straton engines, 3,5,9hp. They were originally orange and black in colour. The serial #'s 1st # gives the engine size, 2nd & 3rd # gives yr. and the remianing #'s give production # for that yr. If you have any questions I would be happy to try to assist you with them.

I have a Bantum tractor also and did some research on them. They were built by the Standard Mfg & Sales Co. of Le Banon Indiana. The serial number on mine is 952268. I am told that the first number indicates it is a 3HP engine, 52 indicates the unit was built in 1952 and 268 is the production number. I contacted a person who was a nephew of the owner, and worked in the factory. He told me that the units were originally built to pull a gang mower. The units were orginally orange in color. I started to rebuild my unit years ago and have it about half done. I have not found the time to work on it. I do have some copies of the original sales literature that shows some of the attachments that were available for these tractors.
