I found an old fordson in the woods today a few feet from the property line of the farm that I grew up on, It looks to have been sitting in the same spot for ever it has a few trees growing up right around it at least 8 inches in diameter so it has probably been there as long as I have been alive, I can't believe I never saw it before, I guess the light was just right. The man who owned the place I grew up on said he had 5 of these when he was younger, he said they were dirt cheap after the war and used them until he got some more modern power, I have to go and see him and ask him about this one . It looks to have thrown a rod on the right side #4 there is a nickle sized hole there but it might be from corrosion. It has fenders on the back I think they are the ones with tool box's in the bottoms and it has cast iron front wheels. It has trees growing up all around it I am going to contact the present owner of the property and see if I can make a deal for it. Can these be made to run with a newer magneto and carb or do you have to use the original stuff. For the most part it is complete but in very rough shape, I know of another and might be able to make one out of the two. Would anyone have a guess at an approximate age for it without the serial number, all the ones I have seen at shows had fabricated front wheels not cast ones were these early or late production. Thanks T.J.

I was looking in an old Antique power and there was a picture of an Irish Fordson in it and the front wheels looked exactly like the ones on the old one in the woods. T.J.

if the tractor has solid cast wheels it could be an irish or an english Fordson. but the cast wheels could have been added to an american. did the tractor have a govronor and mag on the right side of the engine? on the back of the fuel tank it will state the country of origin also, as long as the tank has not been swapped as well.

Hi Adam, thanks for the reply, I stopped and talked to the old man who owned the farm I grew up on and he said that the tractor wasn't his, but that it had sat there since the early 60's when it quit running he didn't know why it quit but he said there used to be a wagon hooked to it at one time and that and the steering wheel and seat are missing. I am still trying to figure out who owns it at this point before I go much farther. I will look at the dash and see what it says, I think I saw coil box's on the left side but I will check when I get down there again. T.J.
