I have a '61 fordson super major,it has no wiring except an on-off power switch (toggle),positive, and ground cables, and is a positive ground system. What I would like to know is how to hook up a one wire alternator, which is positive-positive system? My tractor the negative cable hooks to positive pole on my battery, the negative pole connected to positive cable, and goes to starter.Do I need some sort of rectifier,or something? Please help.Would be appreciated.cw

Kevin nailed it.

Your ampere gage will read backwards if you have one, mine did, but otherwise, it works great.

just reverse the wires on your amp gage if that's the only problem

sorry guys,I tried what you said, but the engine just clicked once, and would'nt even turn over.I switched the cables back to the original, and she fired off.my problem now is the injectors,it runs lousy,I am going to check with Dixon Ford-New Holland Tractors in Blackshear,Ga.tomorrow.Maybe they can cross reference, and give me the proper injectors.
