B-jay,
you will have to provide more information on the tractor so that everyone will know what model you want information on. I am guessing it is a model F or N?

If it has an external magneto, it is probably a 1938 Model N. Depending on the brand of the magneto, you may stop it with a grounding contact, or you may turn the advance all the way to one side and it grounds out the magneto inside. I have a 1937 Model N, but I haven't run it yet, so I haven't had to figure out how it stops, but my E27N has a Lucas magneto and you stop it by turning the spark advance lever.
