Just purchased my winter project: A 1958
Fordson Power Major Diesel. It runs fine but
is in need of much TLC. Presently I'm looking for
all the manuals I can get about this tractor.
Any suggestions?

I know I have a generator problem (only puts out
3 amps... has been for 10 years) And various
oil leaks. No working gauges. Runs and starts fine.

Thanks in advance.

I also have a Power Major. It is not pretty but it sure does the job. I have not done much to it since I first got it. Just change the oil a lot and try to keep it out of the elements. YOu won't have to change the PTO and trans so often. You could start looking for manuals by checking out the manual reproductions available on this site. They are the real thing... Good luck.

I also have a 1958 Power Major diesel. I have used it for about 9 yrs on my part time farm mowing and raking hay, plowing gardens, and hauling fire wood. It runs all day on very little fuel. I have had to give some TLC too, but this tractor is a worker. Runs great. I've replaced all gauges except the proofmeter(doesn't work), replaced the head gasket and oil pan gasket, replaced the batteries, and had the radiator rebuilt. It still needs to have the fuel leak-off pipe replaced and the power steering cylinder rebuilt.

I'd be interested in hearing how the TLC goes. I don't think you'll be disappointed in what you get when the work is done. It's a great tractor.
