what oil should I use in the transmission? because it works the hydraulics (right?) I was thinking hydraulic oil but the manual says 30HD?
Whats that? engine oil?
By the way I just got the manual (workshop) for the dexta and its not exactly clear on this issue unless its meant to be too obvious to point out. On checking/topping up fluid it only mentions one plug, the filler and doesn't mention the level check plug or even show a diagram of where it is.
Thank goodness for this site which is more patient of novices like me :)
thanx for your help

Yep it's engine oil Alex.

Over on the left side of the differential just above and forwards of the pto shifter is the differential oil check plug.

On the right side just about where your right ankle is when driving in the tranny case is the check plug.

The tranny and diff have separate oil reservoirs and the hydraulics run off the differential oil

yessir they are pretty easy to maintain. I've had a Dexta or Super Dexta for many years and love both.

I had a 35 Ferguson I liked almost as well with the Perkins but a yuppie with too much money came by and liked it too. He looks good out bush hogging his pasture with it and his matching Docker shorts and shirt and the goofy looking red straw hat.
