I have a 1963 Super Dexta w/3 cyl Perkins. There is an oil leak that drips from the brake pedal shaft where it runs through the body of the tractor. I thought that the area between the engine and transmission was dry. Any comments on what or where this might be coming from?

Allen, Is the oil black engine oil or is it transmission oil? Your oil could be leaking from a failed crankshaft rear oil seal, which I think is most likely, or, the main drive shaft oil seal could be the suspect. Have you noticed any clutch slip - usually a sign of oil contaminated friction linings? Either way, if the leak gets worse and effects the operation of the clutch the only solution is to split the tractor and have a look.

I think it is coming from the rear diff area. It will leak until the oil in the rear diff drops below a certain point (below the level plug) then stops. It starts again when I fill the rear diff with oil. So it is coming from there. So far, no problems with the clutch.
