Lots and lots of dexta problems HELP HELP

Well i've had my tractor a month now and there are still problems here they are...

1. I got advice from someone about stiff steering on my dexta they said the rack and pinion might be rusty but how do i remove the houseing to get at it the are 2 screws beside the steering wheel is this how to get in at it?

2 It wont start it has a new and very good starter there is plenty of fuel in it that was replaced last week there is loads of oil the injectors are working and also the heater for the fuel works properly and the batery is charged and connected can anyone help?

3 the engine lets out some of white smoke when warm and cold under pressure and not under pressure van anyone help?

4 the lights blow slowly can anyone help?

5 the hydrolic arms slowly move down HELP?

6 i cant find the hand brake

7 the governor when the engine starts makes the engine run uneven can anyone help?


I GOT THE TRACTOR FOR ONLY $500 and it is not rusty or anything except for these small problems

Al, those are not "small" problems. Your tractor may look pretty but from what you tell me it needs quite a bit of maintenance. The engine may need a revision (seems there's not enough compression for it to start; in addition, there could be coolant leaking into the cylinders, hence the white exhaust) and the same goes for the hydraulics (arms that lower by themselves are indicative of a leaky pump).

Sorry to bring bad news, but the best thing to do is to have a pro take a good look at it and make a list of all that needs to be done.

Yeah and besides what Oscar said I already sent directions and images last week for the same steering question.

I don't mean to be cranky with you, but if you don't want to trust the Fordson manuals and written directions maybe you should get a 8N.
