Power Major Oil Pressure

I have a 1958 Power Major that I use on my part-time farm. The oil pressure recently has been dropping after the engine is warmed up and working. Cold the pressure is about 40 lbs, but after 30-45 min. of work the pressure drops to about 20 lbs. at working rpms. At idle the pressure falls to 5 lbs. or so. This drop in pressure happened fairly quickly this spring, so I'm not sure if this is a symptom of worn rings/engine or a defective/plugged oil pump.Any help out there?

Have you checked your oil sending unit? Is it working correctly?

Jack,

Good suggestion. I assumed that the sending unit was working correctly. Should check it. I'm not much of a mechanic, so I need info on how to check the operation of the sending unit. Thanks.
