I bought a tractor 17 years ago from a tractor wrecker in St.Marys Ont.They had just received it.
I offered them $1700.00 and took it home.I don't
think they knew anything about what they had just
sold.
It had a front end loader. When I got it home, all I had to do was clean off the snow, put gas in it.
The old girl started, been using it almost every day all this time.
I'm a beginner on this CP & net.,learning a little bit more each day.I think I can use same to
finally discover exactly what make, year, model etc. So far,the old girl seems to be a rare one.
It,s a FORDSON DEXTA,4cyl.gas engine. For the first time,it has let me down.Had a valve job done to the head. Now ready to reassemble.Trying to find a new head gasket!!So far no luck.
Please,if any of you boys (and girls)have "ANY COMMENTS OR INFO.OR JUST FEEL LIKE SHOOTIN'THE
BREEZE ABOUT YOUR TRACTOR OR MINE,,start typing,,
O.K.?..... .I,m waiting,,,thanks,,FARMER BOB

You should have no problem. The same engine was used in European Massey Fergusons of the same time. The owner's manual appendix and parts book appendix are advertised on Ebay on CD, from a Canadian vendor. I recommend replacing the governor and timing chain if you have not done so. Cheap insurance considering the delicate governor. Mine came apart and busted up the housing. Hundreds of bucks. Governor is not too expensive.

I removed the timing & governor cover and checked it.Everything seemed fine.I'm reassembling the engine after having the valves done.Do you own a gas Dexta?,,if so,,please tell me how you come across it. BOBWA
