Only the serial No will give you the info you require. Live drive (dual clutch) was only available from about March 1957 probably around ser No 1422000 but that No is a guess, my list is not that specific. MTF

Power steering add-on was sold by Sherman Brothers.

My 62 super ,with live pto, does not have the tool box on the left side. Tell if its a dual clutch because clutch housing is noticeably longer. this does not appear so.My lights are outside of radiator shell, with Super Major imprinted on Front of Shell.Get serial No.
Production Jan 52 to Oct 64.No stamped on flange of flywheel housing near starter mounting.
Effective Serial 1380939 on pad at front RHS of Block.
In Nov. 61 SN was changed from 7 digits to 6 with prefix and suffix .
Note..when new system was introduced only 6 digit number was stamped on tractor ,later a "z" was stamped in front of prefix but deleted after short time..

IF YOU GO BACK AND LOOK AT THE SERIAL # ON THE ENGINE, THE FIRST 3 #S SHOULD BE, JUST GUESSING O8B,O8C OR O8D. THAT WOULD BE 62,63,OR64 YEAR MODEL. ID GUESS A 63,JUST FOR FUN.

Independent PTO was NOT avaialable on Fordson Major Diesels. Some do have Live PTO by way of a 2-stage clutch.

I found a sales pamphlet that says the 2-stage clutch was optional on the 1963-64 Fordson 5000 Super Major. Those were the ones with gray hoods.

Mike,
The headlights were only inside the grille on Supers. Majors and Power Majors had them on the outside of the radiator shell. All versions of the Major had the live PTO as an option. You could get any of them with or without it. Supers had disc brakes, the others had drums that stuck out through the fenders. Supers had position and draft controls for the 3-point, the others only had position control. The picture looks like a Super, if no one has changed the grille.
