I would be a bit careful. Bob is correct to say all the engines used in the Fordson Major range were designed and built by Ford at Dagenham.

However some of the early tractors were converted from petrol/paraffin to diesel by fitting Perkins L4 engines. I have yet to come across one as all were exported from the UK as far as I know.

Any Major engine from 1952 to 1964 will slot straight in to your tractor although some may need a bit of modification to the throttle linkage. On early tractors the throttle passes through the block, on later ones it goes behind under the battery box.

Dexta engines will not fit.

The Major engines are NOT Perkins!
