The Radiator B76 but why is is also coded with the C5NN number? Is it a factory replacement unit built in 1965 or later? If so, then why the B76 code?
I couldn't get a photo of it but the carb has the metal tag dated 8/57.

I can't answer the radiator questions and I don't know how you decipher the date codes other than the axle codes. One of them calls out August 14, 1957 and the other is April 10, 1957. Obviously one of those axles was in the parts bin for a long time.

My parts book says that the first s/n of October 1957 was 1148. It does not give any info before October. I looked up a 1957 calendar. October 1 was a Tuesday. I would assume that X01 production started on Monday, September 30, 1957 and they made a grand total of 47 units that first day. Now you have a reason to eat cake and ice cream every September 30.

Thanks for the Sep 30, 1957 build date- I'll remember to throw a birthday party. Yes, the axle codes are easy to decipher, it's those others that are intriguing. I assume the "7" in them is for 1957. I believe it was Tony Jacobs who posted something on this forum concerning those numbers a couple of years ago- I'll search the archives and see if I can find it.
