Top photo shows the left side weight, R-O-R seat, both lynch pin holders and stabilizers, swinging drawbar and a adjustable top link. Is the top link original Ford equipment? The ball socket is broken off the implement end and a piece of pipe welded on.

Bottom photo shows the instrument panel with dash light, non working fuel and temp gauges and a working oil pressure and working proofmeter! 5981.0 hours registered. You can also see the ammeter that was added with the alternator.

No!, Thats not an orginal top link. I have one and it looks nothing like that. The original had no "cross" handles at all. It was a smooth barrell that had a "knurled" area, that you griped to turn it for adjustment. Did you get those wheel weights that are in the back ground of the second pic?

Thanks for the information Lumpy. No, those weights in the background used to be on the front bolster of my 5000. The mount I made for them is just behind Obi (the Red Bone Hound). I found a set of Ford suitcase weights for a fair price so the round weights are not being used at the moment.

Nice pic.

You might be able to get a new ball socket to weld on that toplink.. or.. if it works with the pipe? maybee leave it as character? Either way, it can't look any worse than any repairs I've done.. like that ho-made steering arm i welded up!

So when ya gonna start tearing her down?

I haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping the thread is the same diameter and pitch as the top links sold at TSC. If so I'll just replace the ends and keep this barrel.
No teardown in the immediate future as I've got plenty of work to do in getting all of my recently acquired used hay baling eqpt up and running.

awhtx,

Whew! Big job, but lots of potential. I use a 1973 Ford 2000 on my farm. It looks a little bit better than that, but not much.

Thanks for the pics.
