I split my 861 and found two carter pins gone from the finger pins. One of the pins had come out. Put new pilot bearing in because is was their. When I put the halves back together it acts like the input shaft is not lining up with the pilot bearing. I did make sure that the new bearing was correct. Seems to be a lot of up and down and side to side play in input shaves. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeff.

ok,ok,ok, so its codder pin, I think!! Any way I double checked everything then slid it back together. Then put the two big bolts in and got them finger tight, then wiggled, finger tight again and so on. Its all together and nothing broken!!! Thanks everyone for your thoughts. This has been a fun project. Jeff

A pipe wrench on the pto shaft, pto engaged, and clutch in nuetral may help you turn the shaft a bit to re-assemble..

As you slide the halves together, you have to keep the trans in N, and may have to depress the clutch peddle some and possibly even rotate the engine over by hand back and forth.

Hand aid is also a good help. The double clutches are hard to align but easy to bugger up. The only advice is to take your time and wiggle wiggle wiggle.

Bob...What's the point of your reply here? Is it to help with the problem? Or are you just merely pointing out a spelling error, if so provide proper spelling please. Cotter pin.

did you use a clutch alignment tool to reassemble the clutch? If not you'll likely have trouble getting it to line up.

You need to reach down through the hole under the steering box and guide the input shafts back into place. I can guarantee you that if you force it back together you will ruin the clutch disc (discs).

I put the clutch on the input shaves before i bolted it to the flywheel and it slide on nicely. If I understand this clutch the springs hold the clutch plates in place. I will take it off the flywheel again and make sure that the plates didn't move. I didn't take the steering gear off the tractor, I may need to do that to reach inside. I did take the small inspection plate off the bottom but their isn't enough room to reach or even see for that matter. I had priced a new clutch, and for what they wanted for it I for sure don't want to damage any part of this one. Thanks, Jeff
