If you have enough battery power to start ( 80-150amps ).. then you have enough battery power to run ( 3-4 amps ) for an EXTENDED amount of time. I know plenty of tractors that get a recharge at night and run all day with no charg system. Got an aftermarket fuel filter inline? will it still try to stall at high rpm after 5 minutes? 5 minutes is about the right amount of time for the gas in the carb to be used up.. so I'd check fuel. ( right at stall.. just for kicks.. check spark... but I'm guessing fuel ). Ammeter at 0... you may be surprised to learn that means it is charging. These tractors use a net charge/discharge metering system. the genny makes up initial starter power, and then maintains ignition draw and keeps the bat charged to a pre-set votlage level. as long as the battery stays there.. the genny doesn't charge much.. just the 3-4a for the ignition. Now.. if your meter showed a DISCHARGE.. like a 3-4 amp negative deflection.. then we could say that you were not charging. Look at your meter the next time you start her up. take a jumper wire and jumper from the bat terminal on the vreg over to the field terminal onthe vreg.. see if your ammeter don't jump up way positive for a couple seconds... if so.. genny is charging.. soundguy
