Does anyone know the thickness of the hydraulic pump gasket that goes between the hydralic pump and motor on the 860. It seems the kit I bought doesn't have that gasket in it. A new gasket is cheap but shipping is plane ole ridiculous at like 10 bucks while the gasket it less than 2 dollars. The local CNH is 45 minutes one way away from here in North Baton Rouge. So I am contemplating making one. Since this is a gear mesh situation on the pump gear and cam gear I want to have the correct gasket thickness when I make one.I am guessing it's around .006 to .010 thick.
Thanks,
Don

My guess is the thickness would be .025 to .035.
Yow will have some of the outside edges of the gasket very narrow. You will need more thickness to seal than you are assuming.

It isn't much of a gasket and would be easy to cut out of gasket paper, or even a cereal box.

It is important that the gears not be bound up. It is easy enough to check that there is some lash by bolting the pump on the block with the gasket in place and torqued to the proper specs. Then reach in with a screwdriver through the proof reader drive and turn the drive fitting back and forth. You will be able to feel if there is some lash between the gears, since the fitting will move much easier between the gears meshing forward and backward. If you don't have sufficient lash, then cut another gasket and stack them to put the 2 gears a little farther apart and retest. The factory gasket is quite thin. Good luck!

Dunno how thick it is. I'd suspect that there's actually a backlash spec for the gears..... That's generally how these things are done, and then gaskets (shims) are added to set the correct backlash. Problem is, I'm not sure how you'd get a dial in there to check the backlash....
Beyond that, I don't know why your dealer couldn't drop the gasket in a plain old envelope, smack a stamp on it, and send it to you by USPS... other than ofcourse because "we don't do that sort of thing".

Thanks Old, I have one a few miles away, will have to check em out. I did find the oil pump drive shaft with them. Only problem is there's just a bunch of kids that look about 20 years old that don't really know much. I sure do miss my old Napa in the area where I used to live. I knew the guy there and he would help me out alot.

I know how goes. I had to train the guy in my O'reillys so he could find my parts. Hes pretty good now that he knows where and how to look in the books instead of the computer where you will not find the tractor stuff. If the kids can't help you just ask if you can look in the books and then show them what you want if/when you find it

If you have a local O'riellys auto parts tore give them a try. I get almost all my tractor parts from them
