Have a Ford tractor with a decal saying its a Ford 2000 Industrial. I thought it was a 2000 built in 1963 or there abouts. Whats the 2nd and 5th digit of the model # represent? Want to add a PTO to it and wondering if it came with one (model 20303) and the shaft was removed?

Thanks,

Your tractor is a 2000 industrial. The orginal color would be the red/orange of the 601/801 and Buff (yellow).
The model # breaks down like this.
2----- 2000
0----- built before sept 1962 (63 model year)
30---- industrial tractor
3----- 4 speed with gauges; hyd system; and PTO

The 20302 has hyd and NO PTO.

Your serial # tells me you have one of the last tractors built in 1960
The first serial # for 1961 is 131427

Thanks for that info John now to take a peak as to why there is no PTO shaft.

Thanks CJ

It's possible that in the past 40 odd years, the transmissions were swapped and the numbers may not mean anything relevent.

If you pull the square PTO delete plate, and look in there and can see all the way to the center section, then it used to have a PTO. If you see a plug like a frost plug at the interface between the differential and the hydraulic section, then it never had a PTO. That plug was put in there by the factory to seal the two sections on tractors with no PTO.

Probably simpler, is to see if you have a PTO engage lever on the left side of the differential. No lever, probably never had a PTO.

Tractor now has a PTO that works. That was easy.
