The clutch pedal on my 860 came loose from the transmission housing. It literally fell off. I've taken the transmission cover off and have drained the oil. After scouring the bottom of the transmission with a magnet I finally found the nut that fastens the clutch shaft to the inside of the transmission housing. My question is, Is there a washer or lock washer that came off the clutch shaft and is now in the bottom of my transmission? I cannot find any other parts, but I don't know what I am looking for, if anything. I would think there should be lock washer to hold the nut secure. Any advice on putting it back together. Room is tight and it is impossible to see the bottom of the transmission housing.

Brian,

I have a picture of the nut I can send. Looks like there is no washer. Also sent you an email...

John

Thanks for the help.

Without a picture in my manual I didn't know whether to keep looking for something. Anybody know if lock tight can be used in the transmission housing to secure the nut to the shaft?

I rebuilt the 5 speed trans in my 861 a year ago. I had to replace the shaft you are talking about because mine was worn lopsided where the clutch pedal pivots on it. The shaft is machined with a taper where it fits in the transmission housing and the nut that is inside the housing pulls this taper up tight. I do not recall that there was any washer under the nut.
