I recently bought a "58 851 and want to change all of the fluids. I bought a Ford shop manual and it says that 80 or 90W oil goes in the rear axle. The dealer says use 134 hydraulic oil in everything but the engine. Which is correct? Thanks

You'll be happier running 134 in all compartments, particularly if you live in a cold climate. The tractor will want to creep forward in neutral with 90 wt. in the transmission.

I use 134 in the transmission, hydraulics and rear axle on my 861.

It all depends on who you ask, I use 80/90 w in the transmission and rearend, The shafts and gear tolerences were designed for the heavier oil, the 134 is thinner. And I use 134 in the hyd system

Most of us use 134 in all compartments, because of better performance in cold weather and the tendancy of the compartments to sometimes leak and if they leak it won't hurt for 134 to mix with other fluids.

I personally believe that the transmission and rearend will last longer with the fluid they were designed to run with, 90W gear oil.
