I am restoring a Ford 801 diesel and would like to use a 12-volt voltmeter. Does anyone know of a supplier for one with a black bezel to match the temperature and oil pressure gauges?

None of my business BUT.

Amperage (as suggested by Pernell) does more for you than voltage, per se. A half volt change in a 12 volt system (.25 in 6 v) can mean a whopping big difference in energy storage in the battery (Specific Gravity; hence amount of available energy; ambient temperature sensitive too). Amperage tells it all. Get a big slug of current out of the battery (tractor starting), get a reply of a big current indication on the ammeter. When the gen has recharged the batt, the ammeter goes to 0. Real simple and real accurate.

My 2c.

Mark

I got all my new guages from Genesee products. They sell Datcom Truck guages. Nice illuminated, black face, electronic guages.
