Hey out there.

I just inherited a Ford 535 Diesel Loader & Backhoe.

I believe it's a 1977.

Model # DD211F.

Trans.# 7B10D

Question is.... Now what ???

What is this thing worth ? It does run and has about 4K hours. But, I don't know anything about it, including how to drive it ???

Is it a quality machine ?

What type of transmission and engine is in it ?

Are they any good ?

Any input would be most appreciative.

Also, where would I be able to sell this if I chose to do so.

Thanks for your help.

Dan.

The Ford 535 is a fine industrial tractor. I have a 1978 unit with the 755 (15') backhoe and 4500 loader which I have owned for 5 years. (Total hours about 1400)

This tractor has some excellent features, including torque converter drive with shuttle reverse. Mine has the 3 cylinder diesel engine, but it may have been available with a gasoline engine as well.

The hydraulics are very capable (28 gpm) and the 4500 loader and 755 backhoe have been good to me.

One quirk is the link chain used to swing the backhoe. It has never given me trouble, but the chains are a very expensive replacement part ($440 ea., and there are two on the hoe.)

Parts support is good, and New Holland also sells the operator and service manuals for this unit, including the manuals for loader and backhoe attachments.

This tractor in serviceable condition should be worth $8000 or more.

Dan,
Your 535 has a 201 cubic inch Ford Basildon 3 cylinder diesel engine with 56 net engine horsepower. Same basic engine as used in many 45 to 60 horsepower Ag and Industrial Ford tractors from 1965 to almost 2000. A very reliable, dependable engine.

Transmission is a 4 spd forward, 4 reverse, power reversing torque converter transmission used from 65 to 83.

Can you sell it? Depends totally on condition, If everything works and appearance is reasonably good, you should be able to sell it easily. If not, it should still be valuable to recyclers.
