I looked at my pto spline and noticed that the hole in it is oblonged. I guess that is why my ORC roll pin keeps breaking. Is there a repair/sleeve to fix it or with my luck is a an expensive repair to change out the shaft comming out of the tractor?

If I were to hazard a guess here, I would say that the splines are worn on the shaft, or possibly the ORC. This causes the roll pin to carry the load, rather than the splines, and that would break the roll pin. Fifty years and six or seven thousand hours will wear the splines out pretty bad. Anyhow, just a thought. Good luck.

You can buy a complete pto shaft assembly for about $120. It's easy to change. Drain the differential first. Might be a good time to put new fluid in there if it hasn't been changed in awhile. Remove the 4 bolts holding the pto shaft assembly to the rear of the tractor and pull it out. Insert the new shaft (with a new gasket), reinstall the 4 bolts and the diff oil and you're done!

Jim, thanks for your help. I completed the whole shaft replacement in 1 hour and $123.00.

Great! That's a start. Now work your way forward and in a few years you'll have a brand new tractor!

Yup, as far as major repairs, this is a fairly easy & not so spendy one.

Also, you could get a different type of ORC, they make some that are quick-connect with the little button to push. Doesn't use the hole. But, that is 1/2 the price or so of the tractor repair....
