dunno about any brake but here is how it looks from here. 2 senario's 850 or 860 if I understand the fb. 860 is Live. 850: If input shaft to tranny is turning the wheels are turning unless it is in Neutral. But the PTO shaft is geared to the input shaft and it turns as long as the input shaft turns. The output shaft (at the rear of the tractor) only turns when you slide the PTO coupling over the PTO input shaft (PTO output shaft from the tranny)with the PTO ON/OFF lever. 1. Can't be a clutch problem as no mention of tractor ground velocity "won't stop when in gear". 2. Can't be an output coupling problem as the clutch is obviously disconnecting the tranny from the engine's flywheel...otherwise you'd experience problem #1. With the tranny PTO shaft stopped the yoke should slide freely over the shaft or a slight nudge with slight amount of clutch to line up the splines would do the trick. Conclusion: Tractor is not an 850 ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ---
860: Live PTO, 2 clutches, half pedal works the ground speed clutch, full depression works the PTO clutch. As stated in other responses, the clutch linkage needs to be tightened (shortened) to increase pressure on backing plate to allow PTO clutch pressure plate to release the clutch disc. Not having a problem with ground speed as there is plenty of pedal travel after it functions; not the case with PTO. Common problem with linkages and I guess springs get weak and relax and it takes more pressure to open the gap. my 2c. txblu
