Should I put 800 series piston pump on Jubilee?

Had the pros overhaul the vane pump on the Jubilee, as some of you know, but it has never performed satisfactorily. Takes a long warm up and full throttle to get it to prime and work. I can get a rebuilt piston pump from an 800 series installed for $400. But the good mechanic- installer worries that it may overpower the Jubilee system, making it overreact. Will it be satisfactory with the 800 pump?
Appreciate any advice? Any experience? Thanks, Mike-Iowa

All the posts I've read on this site over the past year indicate that if the vane pump died, replace it with the piston pump and put and end to your problems.

There is no difference in the piston pump capacity from 1953 to 1964, or model to model in that timeframe. Many, many tractors have been converted from vane to piston. There is no downside to the swap.
