How do you remove incorrect decals?

My 841 has several goofy decals. FORD in big black letters on sides of the hood and the model 850 decal on one dogleg. Can these be removed with the aid of some miracle chemical? Must they be sanded off? The paint is not showy, but not bad for a work tractor. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Mike-Iowa

Visit your local automotive paint store. They have a product in aerosol can for removing automotive decals. It softens them up for removal and does not damage paint. The product is, "Klean-Strip Aircraft Decal & Adhesive Remover". I suppose other brands exist as well.

Mike- What do you mean by a dogleg?

The part of the hood that goes down beside the radiator is refered to by some of us as the dogleg.

I'm going to try one of my wife's hair dryers. She says she's go one that seems to be hotter than the rest. Thanks for this tip. I'm only 60 and still learning every day. Mike-Iowa

Thanks. I had never heard that before. I always learn something on this board.

Sometimes a hair dryer will soften them enough to peel off. Northern tool sells a buff wheel made to remove decals.
