There's an informative thread over on the Ford N site about safe towing practices for wagons, trailers and the like. Lots of talk about using a swinging drawbar that's been locked into a rigid position.

My question is -- can one mount this type of thing under a Fergie TEA20? I don't have any brackets under my differential but I do see four substantial bolts in a rectangular configuration. Are these the mounting points and will the case begin to empty of fluid if I pull them out to mount the bracket?

Here is a picture of the bracket that goes on thoes bolts. Couldn"t get the picture to work... but look at ebay item 110194846013 to see it.

The V-bar is a good option and is availale new.

Red Rock manuf. makes them I think.

Exceellent, thanks. I was assuming I'd use the multi hole drawbar but someone noted that the hydraulics of course won't keep it from rising if the two wheel trailer tips back. This is especially undesirable with boat trailers!

Motor,

I have a swinging draw bar mounted to my TEA-20 using the four mounting hole under the rear end and to the four mounting hole around the PTO. I have used it to pull a gound drive manure' spreader, trailer and gravity wagon. I purchased mine from a local tractor store but it is the same as the one sold on this sight. The draw bar is at a fixed height and easily removed so it will not interfer with your 3-point hitch. The problem with a draw bar mounted to your lift arm is it is difficult to control the height of the lift arms and hold them at a that height with out check chains, also you will need stablizer bar to control side movement.

Thanks guys -- and Ken I'd love to see a photo but don't know how to email you. The PM icon is there but says the messaging function is under construction.

Also you could find a used or fabricate a V style drawbar setup . It will clamp to the 3 pt arms & bolt to the 11 hole drawbar so that there"s no travel at all sideways . The trailer ball then goes into a hole drilled at the pioint of the V . I have a pics of mine but don"t know how to attach it here . If you want a pics , email me directly & then I can attach it hopefully . I"m having computor troubles so my operations are questionable . But I will do my best to show you what mine looks like if interseted . God bless, Ken

Good morning. The four bolt hole pattern under the rear end of your tractor should be for the steel plate to be secured for hauling trailer etc, the oil will not drain out when you remove the bolts, if having to replace any of the bolts, these are fine thread and should be the proper length. From memory I believe these are 5/8" in diameter. Cheers,Murray
