The guy I bought this tractor from got it from a buddy of his that builds muscle cars. He put this fan on it "because he does the same to his cars".

Do Fergies run hot?
The fan is on a switch, doesn't run all the time....

YES
If you work them hard ie. implement too big, going too fast, remember they r only 23 HP. Airflow can b restricted by dust, chaff n seeds in radiator. Waterflow and heat transfer slowed by sludge n scale in the engine and radiator. Another problem is the vee belt pulleys wear and the belt runs in the bottom of the pulley with no drive on the vee, hence they slip and don't transmit the power. The electric fan, draws current from the battery which needs recharging by the generator which draws power from the engine via the slipping vee belt and makes the situation worse. Fix the cause not the symptom.

Be sure to hang on to that electric fan unit. They sure are handy to have around, especially if you need to keep an older vehicle cool whan its working hard. The toggle switch operation is nice because then you can turn it on only when you want to.

You should not have over heating problems if you keep the radiator clean as stated.

What are the two wires in the picture? a Themp guage wire perhaps and what else? electric fan wire?

Fergy's do not run hot unless there is something wrong with them, even when your working them hard. Their made to work hard at slow ground speeds. Chaffed-up radiator fins is a typical culprit that causes overheating. Your missing the fan cowling on your TE radiator. That cowling, in addition to helping keep debris from getting sucked into the fan, helps force the air drawn-in by the fan to be pulled thru the radiator fins instead of just re-circulating hot engine air around on the backside of the radiator... like your pulley driven fan is doing now. Ask the guy that installed that rather cool looking electric fan if he still has the old cowling that belongs on the backside of your radiator. Take that E. fan off, install the cowling, and blow compressed air thru the radiator fins to clean them out. My guess is your TE will not have an overheating problem.
